The well-being of our students is our priority. To ensure the safety and health of all of them, we have a health service to provide immediate attention to anyone who needs it.
Present at the center every day from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm (Wednesdays until 3:30 pm), the nurse is in charge of providing first aid in case of illness or accident, but also of managing the students’ health records (allergies, diseases, etc.), and participating in the students’ health education.
Attention and care
The student who is unwell goes to the nurse’s office where, after an examination of the situation, the nurse provides the first necessary care. If the student does not require further attention, he/she will return to class and the nurse will inform the family. In the event that medication is required, the nurse will contact the family and only after receiving authorization can the medication be administered.
We want families to feel safe, so they can contact the nurse by phone at any time during school hours to discuss any concerns related to their child’s health.
Medical treatment
For students undergoing specific medical treatment, the nurse will be responsible for storing and administering the treatment, provided that families provide the medical report. For more serious or chronic medical conditions, an adapted protocol (IAP) is developed with the assistance of the nurse, in collaboration with the family and the family doctor.
Health education
The health service, in collaboration with the educational team, may carry out talks and prevention and health actions in the school’s classrooms.
Vaccines
The Basque Health Service (Osakidetza) is in charge of administering the vaccines to the students of the center. The nurse coordinates and organizes this action with Osakidetza, also liaising with the families.
