The idea that only children of French citizens can attend the Collège Français is far from accurate.
The school’s admission rules are clear: all foreign students can enroll at the Collège Français. Each year, many of the students at the Collège Français come from countries other than France, making it a truly international school.
Therefore, to think that the Collège Français is exclusively for French citizens or French speakers is simply not true.
Studying in French when it is not your mother tongue is possible!
The French as a Foreign Language (FLE) program allows students who are new to the language to integrate into the French educational system. The classes are aimed at children from the first year of primary school onwards. Many non-French speaking students currently enrolled at the Lycée Français de Bilbao have no difficulty studying in this language thanks to this support program.
This program, which usually lasts two years, gives students access to the basic skills necessary to pursue a French language education.
